Smûk is a small-scale farm location in the heart of Friesland, right by the water. Here you stay in a charming bell tent, a cozy nature cottage, or on your own camping pitch—always surrounded by the authentic Frisian landscape.
Slowing down happens naturally here. Start your day with fresh eggs from the yard. Hop into a canoe or sloop and sail into the Frisian lake district. Walk to the village for a drink at Eetkavee Dikke Tût. As the sun sets, light a fire and naturally drift closer together. Step into the hot tub and enjoy the starry sky above the meadows.
That is the feeling of Smûk. Cozy, warm, and like coming home.

Autumn at its Smûk-est
It’s getting fresher outside, the leaves are changing color, and the wood stove is lit once again. Especially in autumn, it’s wonderful to head outdoors for a few days and take the pace down a notch.
Put on your boots for a walk through the Frisian landscape, then warm up by the fire and end the day in the hot tub under the stars. Or stay cozy inside with a book, a game, and the wood stove burning.
On our farm in Friesland, you’ll find all the space you need to be together, live outdoors, and simply do nothing at all.

A few days for yourself
In autumn, you can completely unwind at Smûk. No agenda, no appointments, just time for yourself.
country air breathes better
Once you arrive at your nature cottage or glamping tent, you are greeted by the questioning gaze of a few cows. You can’t help but smile as you breathe in the country air—it feels fresher than at home. You smell the neighbor’s campfire and walk to the water where the boats are moored. A little further on, you see the village and map out a walk along the dike.
When you reach the jetty, you get a spontaneous urge to go sailing. You reserve a sloop at Smûk and pick up some treats at the Country Store for the journey. Across the Tjeukemeer to Sloten or Langweer. Or peacefully along the Tjonger river, with nothing but nature around you.

Varen & water
Pak een kano (gratis) of huur de Smûk sloep en ontdek het Friese water. Vanuit de aanlegsteiger vaar je zo het Tjeukemeer op, richting Sloten, Lemmer of Langweer
Hottub & wellness
Een houtgestookte hottub onder de sterren. Warm water, frisse lucht, uitzicht over het land. Optioneel bij de glamping en camping, inbegrepen bij de natuurhuisjes.
Buitenkoken
Kook buiten op het vuur of gebruik de buitenkeuken. Bak een pizza in de houtoven of huur een vuurschaal en verlies je in het stoken van een vuurtje.
Huiskamer
De huiskamer van het erf. Voor koffie, een spelletje of een regenachtige middag. Een warme plek voor iedereen op het terrein.
Landwinkeltje
Verse eieren, vlees van eigen koeien, streekproducten en kleine lekkernijen. Ideaal voor een ontbijt buiten of iets lekkers bij het vuur.
Dieren op het erf
Koeien met kalfjes, geitjes, paarden en kippen, het leven op het erf gaat gewoon door. Kinderen mogen ze ontmoeten, aaien en meekijken.
A farm with a story
Smûk begins at a Frisian farmhouse from 1870, where three generations of our family have lived and worked. We feel deeply connected to this place. To the land, the animals, and nature.
The name Smûk means cozy, coming home, and warm in Frisian. And that is exactly what we want you to experience.
We build everything with love and as much as possible with natural and recycled materials. By mowing late and sowing flowers, we create space for meadow birds, butterflies, and insects. The black-tailed godwit is back. Nature is given time here.
You feel it the moment you drive onto the yard.
A living farmyard
You can see it in the biodiversity: godwits, lapwings, redshanks, swallows, and plenty of small life in the flower strips along the roads. Hares running past the yard in the morning. A starry sky without light pollution.
Smûk is not a park. It is a real place, with real land and real animals.

Smûk conquers a place in your heart. You drive away with a bucket list of things you still wanted to do and come home with a lot of warm memories. Pour yourself a drink and read the stories of visitors who went before you.

“Genieten van alles wat het Friese platteland te bieden heeft. Rust, ruimte, lucht. Geluk zit ‘m in het kleine wat een groots gevoel losmaakt. De zonsopkomst is adembenemend mooi hier.
Smûk is een fijne plek om te verblijven. Het is puur, landelijke stijl, maar uitermate verzorgd. Crista en Gert zijn heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De kachel opstoken voor de hottub vond ik een leuke bezigheid. Daarna onder een kraakheldere sterrenhemel in het hete water gezeten.
Ikzelf stond op de camping, maar ze hebben ook een huisje hûske en ook een tiny house.. echt een prachtige plek. Crista heeft veel oog voor detail en mooie materialen. Zelfs de douchegelegenheid voor de campinggasten is smûkkig (?) 🙂“

“Smûk recreatie doet zijn naam eer aan, gezellig en een mooie omgeving! Het ontvangst was hartelijk waardoor je je gelijk op je gemak voelde. Crista en Gert zijn ontzettende lieve en aardige mensen, nemen de tijd voor je, denken mee en zijn zeer behulpzaam.
Wij stonden met onze vouwwagen op 1 van de kampeerplekken, wat ons goed is bevallen, we hadden prachtig uitzicht op de weilanden en zagen in de verte de bootjes in de vaart varen.
Het sanitair is netjes schoon, er is een grote huiskamer waar je heerlijk een bakje koffie kunt pakken, er is een winkeltje met vers vlees, je kunt een sloep huren, je kunt een duik nemen in de vaart en je bent zo in Lemmer. Wij hebben ondanks het slechte weer een fijne tijd gehad!“

“Prachtige kleinschalige camping, prachtig aangekleed, schoon sanitair, leuke gezamenlijke faciliteiten, vriendelijke eigenaren, sfeervol winkeltje met lekkere producten. De verse croissantjes en de zelfgebakken appeltaartjes waren heerlijk. De gezamenlijke pizza avond was erg gezellig en lekker. We hebben heerlijk gezwommen in de sloot en fikkie gestookt s avons met uitzicht op de weilanden. Wel veel muggen! We komen zeker terug.“

“Een zeer behaaglijke plek waar het woord Smûk volledig tot zijn recht komt! Hier gestaan met de caravan met een prachtig uitzicht over de velden. Familie van ons verbleven in een Smûk tent en we hebben gezamenlijk heerlijk genoten van alles wat de plek te bieden heeft. In de avond met de kinderen en familie hamburgers gebakken en marshmallows op het vuurtje gemaakt. Een prachtige ervaring voor jong en oud. Kinderen blij ouders blij! Het sanitair en de buitenkeuken zijn dik in orde en bieden een goede uitvalsbasis om gezamenlijk te genieten van een ontbijt, lunch of diner. In het winkeltje zijn goede regionale kwaliteitsproducten te koop die goed passen in het Smûk concept. De vertaling van het het woord Smûk komt hier volledig tot zijn recht! “

Smûk is located near the Tjeukemeer, the largest lake in Friesland. You can sail right to it from the jetty. But there is more…
Take a bike ride through the polder. Walk through the Rottige Meente or the Weerribben. Discover the small Frisian towns of Sloten, Lemmer, or Joure. Visit Pantropica with its butterfly garden and alpacas. Or drive to the beach at the Tjeukemeer in Echtenerbrug.
You don’t have to go anywhere. But if you do, there is plenty to discover.
