At Smûk, you will find two types of bell tents. Each with its own atmosphere, location, and size. Together they stand in the field, overlooking the Frisian meadows with the open water in the distance.
Smûk Lytse Bell (1-2/4p)
The Lytse Bell is for two (max. 4). Small and cozy, but with everything you need. Your bed is made, the outdoor kitchen is around the corner, and the pizza oven is ready. Views over the meadows and close to the open waterway.

Smûk Grutte Bell (1-4p)
The Grutte Bell is larger, located more privately, and therefore offers extra seclusion. Four people will find their own space here, with a private terrace, picnic table, and private shower. Views of the wide fields.

Smûk Thuskes (1-4 p)
The Thuskes combine the feeling of glamping with the comfort of a cottage. You live outdoors, cook by the fire, sleep in a comfortable bed, and have your own (outdoor) shower. For families and outdoor enthusiasts.

There are six bell tents in total at Smûk. If you book several at once, you’ll have your own corner of the farmyard together. You can gather at the long table in the field, and in the evening, light a campfire together.

Glamping at Smûk is not a holiday park. It is a place on a real stelp farmhouse from 1850, in the heart of the Frisian landscape. Gert, Crista, and their family have lived and worked here for three generations. And they love to share this place with you.
You step onto the yard and are greeted by the curious gaze of a few goats. You smell the grass, hear the birds, and watch the light glide across the meadows. That is what makes glamping in Friesland at Smûk different.

Wake up with views over the meadows and the water
Collect fresh eggs from the chickens in the yard
Coffee outside, bake a roll on the BBQ, or breakfast at the outdoor kitchen
Grab a canoe (free) or rent the Smûk sloop and head out onto the water
Walk along flower-lined paths and meadow birds towards the Tjeukemeer
Bake pizza in the outdoor oven or cook together by the fire

Glamping by the water in the Frisian Lakes
The bell tents are located near the open waterway. From the yard, you walk along the sown flower strips to the jetty on the Pier Christiaansloot. Canoes are ready here—free to use—and you can also rent an electric sloop.
Sail towards the Tjeukemeer, Sloten, Lemmer, or along the Tjonger. Or just jump into the water on a warm day.
Surrounding Smûk are nature reserves like the Rottige Meente and the Weerribben. Cycle through the polders, walk past small villages, or just sit at your own spot and watch the clouds constantly change.
What you’ll find in the yard
No mass campsite, no entertainment program. Just peace, space, personal attention, and a yard that sounds, smells, and feels exactly as it should.
Outdoor kitchen & pizza oven
Cook outside on the BBQ or bake a pizza in the wood-fired pizza oven. Shared outdoor kitchen with full kitchenware, crockery, and running water. Cook together, eat together, at the table or with your plate by the fire.
Hot tub under the stars
Rent a wood-fired hot tub with your glamping tent and experience the evening the Smûk way. Warm water, fresh Frisian air, and views over the land. A moment to never forget.
Animals in the yard
Goats, chickens, horses, and Frisian red-and-white cows with calves. They are simply part of the farm. Children can collect eggs, pet the animals, and enjoy roaming around.
The living room
In the farm barn, you’ll find a warm living room space. For a cup of coffee, a game, or a rainy afternoon. Wi-Fi is also available here.

Smûk is located on a Frisian stelp farmhouse from 1870, near Echtenerbrug. A perfect base for exploring the Frisian landscape. Cycle to the Tjeukemeer, sail through the lakes, walk through the Rottige Meente, or discover the small Frisian towns.

You only need to bring your weekend bag: the tent is already set up with a real bed, linens, and furniture. You have access to the outdoor kitchen and pizza oven, and the yard around you is full of life. No lugging camping gear, but all the feeling of being outdoors.
What is the difference between the Lytse Bell and the Grutte Bell?
The Lytse Bell is a smaller tent for 2 people (max. 4). Compact, cozy, and ideal for couples or small families. The Grutte Bell is more spacious, located in a quieter spot, and offers a private terrace and private shower, perfect for 4 people.
Is the glamping suitable for children?
Certainly. Children can play freely in the yard, pet the animals, and collect eggs. There is a mud kitchen, a play area, and plenty to discover in nature. The bell tents are in the meadow, which is an adventure in itself.
Is there Wi-Fi at the bell tents?
The bell tents are deliberately Wi-Fi free, so you can truly be offline for a while. Wi-Fi is available in the Praat Kafee, our living room space in the farm barn.
Is there a hot tub at the bell tent?
You can book a wood-fired hot tub to go with your bell tent. Warm water, fresh outdoor air, and the stars above you—that’s all you need for a great evening.
Is the glamping located by the water?
Yes. From the yard, you can walk to the jetty on the Pier Christiaansloot in just a few minutes. Canoes are available there for free. You can also rent a SUP or an electric sloop and sail straight into the Frisian lake district.
Can I book multiple tents at once for a group?
Yes. There are six bell tents in the yard. If you book several, you’ll have your own spot together with a shared farm table and campfire. Ideal for a family weekend or a trip with friends.
