Camping at Camping Smûk in Echtenerbrug means waking up to views over the meadows, drinking coffee with your feet in the grass, and sitting around the fire together in the evening.
Our small campsite is located in the Frisian countryside, close to the Frisian lakes. Here, you start the day with fresh eggs from the yard, walk to the jetty, and sail straight into the Frisian lake district. And in the evening? You light a fire, cook outdoors, and watch the stars slowly appear above the land.
No rows of crowded pitches or busy entertainment programs. Instead, you’ll find relaxation, fresh air, animals in the yard, and a place where children can play freely. A place to step away from the rush of everyday life.

At Smûk, outdoor living happens naturally. Across the yard and around the campsite, you’ll find all sorts of places to enjoy, play, or relax.

Cook together at the outdoor kitchen or bake pizzas in the oven. Want a campfire by your tent? You can rent a fire pit with wood for just 10.00 euros!
Hot tub under the stars
Rent a wood-fired hot tub under the stars by your tent or caravan. Warm water, fresh air, and views over the land.
Life on the farmyard
There is always something to see during the day. Children playing, animals roaming around, a chicken walking by. Goats, horses, cows, and dog Famke are all part of the family here.
Playing in the yard
Children build huts, play in the mud kitchen, head out on the water in canoes, or go exploring along the water with a landing net.
A small campsite with a focus on nature
Smûk’s campsite is deliberately small-scale. Not just for the peace and quiet, but also because we want to give the land and nature space.
On and around the yard, we work in a nature-inclusive way. Flower borders attract butterflies and insects, meadow birds find their place in the grass, and the landscape is allowed to truly live. That makes this campsite different from many other places.
You are camping here on a yard where nature, farm life, and camping come together.
The campsite by the Frisian lakes
The campsite overlooks the water. After a short walk past the sown flower strips and the cows, you arrive at the jetty on the Pier Christiaansloot. Electric boats and canoes are moored there. The boats are available for rent, and the canoes are free for you to use! From the farm, you can sail straight into the beautiful Frisian lake district, towards Sloten, Lemmer, Langweer, or along the Tjonger.
Or take a walk to the village of Echtenerbrug/Delfstrahuizen and visit the small beach at the Tjeukemeer.
The Weerribben and the Rottige Meente are perfect for a beautiful walk or bike ride through untouched nature.
Pantropica is also highly recommended, with its butterfly garden, alpacas, and indoor playground for the children.

Are you coming with people who prefer not to camp or don’t have their own tent or caravan? The yard also features atmospheric nature cottages, glamping tents, and tiny houses in Scandinavian style.
This way, everyone can stay in their own way and still come together around the fire or head out on the water together.

Is the campsite suitable for children?
Certainly. Children can play in the yard, meet animals, and go on a journey of discovery in nature.
Are dogs allowed at the campsite?
Yes, absolutely! Please note: a dog is only allowed (on a leash) when camping with your own equipment, in the Smûk Thuskes, and Smûk Grutte Bell.
Is Camping Smûk a quiet campsite?
Yes. Smûk is deliberately set up on a small scale. The atmosphere is quiet and personal, without mass facilities or entertainment.
Can I come with a camper?
Yes, (small) campers are welcome on the camping pitches!
Can I reserve a hot tub as a camper?
It is possible to book a wood-fired hot tub for your camping pitch.
Can I also rent an accommodation if my friends are camping?
Yes. There are also cottages and glamping tents on the yard, making it easy to combine camping and renting.
Is there Wi-Fi available?
Smûk is largely Wi-Fi free so you can truly be offline for a while. Wi-Fi is available in the living room.
